Letter to my Mother

Dear Mom,

Our journey was no easy one and I apologize for all the gaps in time where I just couldn't handle family.  Looking back, I now see how every experience in life and every one we had, prepared me to be who I am today.

Today, I can honestly say that I know I am loved.  We've come such a long way and I thank God every day that I now have my Mom when I want to talk to her.  I feel good about our relationship today and it is such an amazing feeling!

What we went through then, was the training I needed for now and I am thankful.  I am waiting for your next visit, so I can show you what home looks like.  I want to sip coffee at sunrise with you and slip out to the west side for sunset. I want to take lots of ugly pictures for the scrapbook, I want to do all the things we used to do together and all the things we never did.

Aloha wau 'ia 'oe,

Kahala Lei
