Artificial Happiness

Let's take a look at history.  For thousands of years, people have been on this planet and have survived just fine without all of this technology that we have today. What do you think about this technology?  Of course most people in this day and age rely on technology, but why?

Let's first take a look at its convenience factor:
Cell phones and computers made life so easy that most people need to go to college just to learn to think on their own.  People are not accustomed to thinking for themselves anymore which brings me to the point of asking if you would think that we are headed for a Wall-E frame of mind.  If you have seen that movie, which mind you had minimal dialogue, you will see where we are headed as a human race.  Everybody has a screen in front of them all the time.  People who live right next door prefer to go online to talk to their neighbors or friends when they are right there, practically right next door.  We are converting from food to flavored nutrition in a cup. People prefer taste over nutrition.

Now let's look at great icons of history and what they tell us:
Buddha taught that in order to maintain balance in our lives, we should choose the highest ethical middle road.
Christianity teaches that we should understand that we are human and will make mistakes, but we should follow the teachings of Jesus who never deviated from the ethical high road.
Islam teaches that one must live in purity.  None of these teachings include the option of rules and laws changing, just because time did. However, all of these teachings promote a general happiness within life. They each promote a general kindness, love, unity, and welfare of life.

However today, people find happiness in playing God, hurting others, alcohol, street drugs and most of all, pharmaceuticals.
When things go wrong, people run to the nearest doctor and get a script of artificial happiness.

Artificial happiness brings you calmness when you want it - at the cost of your liver, kidney, natural brain function, family and life.  It is what starts a life long dependency upon a costly pill to survive the day, week, month, year and life.

Never Know

Six years have gone by since we first met.  Back then, I didn't even give it a thought.  We were simply communicating over a common interest.  It was simple.  There was no questioning that.

Over time, as we worked with one another, we got closer but I still did not think about it any further than it was.  The bond was forming.  I didn't even know it was happening. As time went by, we went through ups & downs together, despite distance and separate lives.  As events happened in both our lives, we stood by one another and made it through time, even though a thousand times I swore I'd never talk to you again.  So I thought.  But each time, when you called me again things were like nothing ever went wrong.  Just the joy we shared at having one another back into our lives was enough.  And somehow through it all, I slowly began to realize that I do love you.  I love you more with time.  But I don't think you will ever know.  Maybe you'll never know.
