Eating to Fight Cancer

It's a fact.  Cancer affects 1 in every 3 people.  There is no cure for cancer.  Only the hope that it can be reduced and removed.  Not so long ago, I moved to Florida and have only begun to develop a social circle.  Already, I've seen 2 very nice people be taken out by this horrible monster.
Recently,  I have been blessed to have a wonderful person in my life,  whom I care about very much.  This person has stage 4 lung cancer and there's nothing I wouldn't do to help him along his weary journey.  With that in mind,  I think about a few other friends that I know of, who also are either suffering with cancer,  survivors of cancer,  or affected by the disasters it causes in families.
Just last week,  it hit me even harder, when I took my 5 year old son for his biopsy.  He may have skin cancer.
With those of whom I love and support in mind,  I am going to simply post some of my findings.

As I flipped through the pages of  www.cancercenter.com  last night,  I found list of foods that help defend your body against cancer.  Please verify my information via google or on the website I have provided for you.  I am by far, not a doctor.  Just a caring poet who wants to help those whom I love and those who love someone with these conditions.

  • eat plenty of foods that contain Vitamin D
  • eat more fiber rich foods
  • rather than rely on pills to cure you, realize that these pills are more effective when you eat a diet consistent with what you are trying to achieve.  Please realize that God has given us all the resources that we need.  Medicine will only take you so far.  The rest is upto you.
  • eat low fat yogurt daily.  Please watch what kind of yogurt you go for, as  sugar feeds cancerous activity.  There are certain types of natural sugars that are helpful to fighting cancer.  Natural low fat yogurt contains these 'good sugars'.
  • bananas
  • hard boiled eggs
  • low sodium V8
  • dried pineapple:  pineapple extract is very helpful if you are going through chemo.
  • pinto beans
  • pistachios
  • goat cheese
  • fresh veggies
  • raw almonds
  • peppermint tea
I hope that this tidbit of info helps those who could use some support throughout their journey.
