I Loved You

How did I let you go?
This question runs through my mind
Every single day.
Why would I let you go?
I loved you so much that my sun
Could not rise without your face.
My heart fluttering to the sound of your walk,
The height of your voice, so mellow and sweet.
Your charisma, your valiance.
I loved every shudder that you sent through my body
Each time you touched my milky soft skin.
Our rise and our fall, entwined harmony
As you extracted pectin from my flower
Budding essence of soulful symphonies
Gardens full of fresh morning dew.
I loved you.

Official Announcement of Young Poetess Leilani

Tonight, Young Poetess Leilani has announced her official poetic title to be Lani Moe'uhane.

At a show last week, she announced that she is in the process of building a youth poetry slam team, here in Southwest Florida! She will lead her team to perform in Christian Youth Rallies across the US! We expect to hear great things from our Lani Moe'uhane!

Surrounded By War

Survival of the fittest is what it's about
While they were trying to fit in,
She looked for a way out
Will someone just tell her
What all this fighting is for?
It seems to be that she is
Surrounded by war.

Surrounded by war
Gunshots, night and day
Where the fighting persues
As she slips away.
Riding the train
Off into the night
A bit of serenity
A lifetime of plight.

She continues the journey
Year after bitter year,
It begins to look like the
Journey is clear.
Why all this pain?
Why choose with me?
She asks these same questions
For what seems like infinity.
All of this fighting, and
What is the fighting for?
Seems to her that we are
Surrounded by war.

Surrounded by war
You say that it's not the end?
Explain that quaint theory
My precious friend.
God says the higher your blessings
More hatred you'll endure
And this could be why
You're surrounded by war.

My Patriotic Heart Bleeds

My country has murdered my patriotic heart
Simple minded populus just don't understand.
They'll stop at nothing to gain wealth and power
Killing the very people that make their left hand.
Building a nation upon Christian daydreams,
Macabre deeds derived from the core of evil
Hypothetically speaking of harmonial freedom;
Freedom is not free, merely a credit of good wil
What will you do? How did you decide?
My country has murdered my patriotic heart.
I hail not from this place, I am simply another face
Representing an example of Jehovah's grace
Human, flesh and bone, a figment of life
Independantly strong, for I stand solo at the gate
I rebuke anyone else who tries to control my fate.
My country has murdered my patriotic heart
When I noticed I was not like them.
Where so much funding goes lost,
Amibition is wasted with people working the system
The nation allows it, at the taxpayer's cost.
Where black on black crime goes unresolved
Because it gives more power to the powerful,
While the underinsured get no help- population control
"Let less of you poor folk, live to grow old."
My patriotic heart has bleed to death when
I realized that our freedom is an act of mockery.
Two hands stuck in the mud, is our society.
The overall state of our country sees
That my patriotic heart never fails to bleed.
